About The Saturdays
The Saturdays are a
British girl band and
came into existence in
2008. Band members are
Una Healy, Mollie King,
Vanessa White, Frankie
Sandford and Rochelle
Wiseman. Healy hails
from Ireland and has a
musical background. She
was immersed in making
music and playing guitar
since the early age of
13. She is the second
lead vocal role in The
Saturdays. King is from
Richmond and has ski
raced for Great Britain
as a child! She is known
as the ‘posh one’ in the
band. Coming from
Somerset. White has
attended Theatre School
and has featured in
several theatre
productions including
the West End production
of The Lion King.
Wiseman was previously
part of the band S Club
8 which Sandford was
also a part of.
The band’s debut album
Chasing Lights produced
a number of top ten
singles, four to be
accurate; If This Is
Love, Up, Just Can’t Get
Enough and Issues.
Chasing Lights was
released under the label
Fascination Records,
which is a subsidiary of
Polydor Records.
Chasing Lights was very
positively received;
both commercially as
well as critically, and
gained much acclaim from
music critics. The album
opened at number eleven
on the UK Albums Chart.
It later went on to the
number nine position in
the UK, finally making
it to the Top Ten.
Chasing Lights is a
platinum selling album
and has spawned four UK
top ten singles, If This
Is Love making it to
number 8 in the UK, Up
making it to number 5,
Issues making it to
number 6 and Just Can’t
Get Enough made it to
number 2. The track was
kept off the top spot by
Flo Rida’s Right Round.
Wordshaker, the band’s
second album was
released on 12 October
2009, again through
Fascination Records in
the UK and Polydor
Records in Ireland. The
album features the
single Deeper which is
the only song for which
the band members have
been accredited as
co-writers. The album
received positive
reviews from music
critics.
Forever Is Over is the
first single to be
released from the album,
on 5th October, a week
before the release of
the album. The track
received mixed critical
reviews, but great
commercial success and
is currently on number 2
on the UK Singles Chart.
The song is written by
Louis Biancaniello, Sam
Watters, James Bourne
and Kahmarl Gordon, and
produced by The
Runaways. It’s The
Saturdays’ highest
charting track to date.
