About Tinchy Stryder
Tinchy, which is a nickname he acquired due to his short height, started off at the early age of 14 on pirate radio sets in East London becoming a part of the Grime scene from its early days. He won the Best Newcomer Award at the Sidewinder Awards in 2003, when he was active on many pirate stations with the likes of Dizzee Rascal and Wiley; both of whom were already getting media attention at that time.

Already being known for his own music style within the Grime scene, Stryder released his debut album Star in the Hood under the Takeover Entertainment label in 2007. In 2008, Tinchy was featured on Craig David’s single ‘Where’s your Love’, and also appeared on ‘Princes’ by Gang Gang Dance. His single Stryderman was released in 2008. Take me Back, Tinchy’s single featuring Taio Cruz, released in early 2009, made it to UK singles charts and peaked at top #3. Stryder’s success escalated in April 2009, with ‘Number 1’ in collaboration with N-Dubz. Number 1 topped UK singles charts at, predictably, number 1! Tinchy was still riding on the success of Number 1 when the third single from Catch 22, Never Leave You, was released in August 2009. The Album Catch 22 was released on August 17. Never Leave You featuring Amelle of Sugababes made it straight to the top of the UK singles charts. The album Catch 22 made it to number #2 on the UK album charts.

Stryder has made an artistic contribution to raise money for War Child charity, which works for youths who have been forced to take part in War for their Nation. He was part of the cover track of The Killers’ All These Things I’ve Done, with several artists including Pixie Lott, N-Dubz and Chipmunk.

After going to St Bonaventure's Catholic Comprehensive School in Newham, Tinchy Stryder has registered as a student at the University of East London. In 2009, Tinchy successfully completed a BA in Moving Image at the University.

You’re not Alone the fourth single from Catch 22 is due to be released in November 2009. With Never Leave You not showing any signs of leaving the charts, You’re Not Alone is hugely anticipated to be a success.
