About Sean Kingston
Kingston recognised his
talent to write rhymes
and hooks and started on
his way towards success
by working on Miami’s
Talent Show and Showcase
circuit. By the time
Kingston was sharing the
stage with the likes of
Ludacris and Trick
Daddy, record producer
Jonathan ‘J.R’ Rotem (50
Cent, Rihanna, Britney
Spears, Ashley Tisdale)
noticed Kingston and
signed him to his own
Beluga Heights label.
Kingston released his
first single Colors 2007
featuring The Game and
Rick Ross, under the
Sony Imprint Epic label
in 2007. In May 2007,
Kingston released his
single ‘Beautiful Girls’
which was to be a big
success. Kingston took a
bass line sample from
the Ben. E. King 1961
hit Stand By Me and
worked it into Beautiful
Girls, which turned out
to be huge hit, made it
to #1 on the US
Billboard Hot Hundred
and stayed there for
three weeks! Beautiful
Girls made it to the top
spot on several
international charts
including the UK singles
Chart. The track also
won the Teen Choice
Awards for R&B track and
was nominated for Choice
Summer Track of that
year.
Me Love which is loosely
derived from Led
Zeppelin’s D’yer M’aker
from their 1973 album
Houses of the Holy was
also a success. It
opened at #1 on
Australian charts and
stayed there for three
weeks. After the huge
success of two of his
singles, Kingston has
collaborated with
several top artists like
Gwen Stefani, Beyonce
and Lil Wayne. In 2007,
Kingston was the opening
act on Gwen Stefani’s
The Sweet Escape Tour
and on Beyonce’s the
Beyonce Experience Tour
as well.
2008 saw Kingston
collaborating with Flo
Rida on the album Mail
on Sunday. He also
received a nomination
for the Outstanding New
Artist Image Awards.
Early in 2009, the
single I’m at War
featuring Lil Wayne from
his sophomore album was
released. Fire Burning
was released in April
2009, and made it to top
#5 on the Billboard Hot
100. Fire Burning is the
lead single from his
forthcoming album
Tomorrow and has won the
Teen Choice Award for
Choice Summer Song 2009.
Four singles from
Tomorrow have already
been released, My
Girlfriend, Wrap U
Around Me, Tomorrow and
Island Queen. The album
is slated to release in
September 2009.
Kingston’s new single
Face Drop has released
on 2nd of September
2009. The brand new
music video has also
been released on iTunes
and MySpace. Sean
Kingston’s official
website says that the
song is meant for
‘anyone who has been
underestimated or
counted out, but has
made it to the top!’
Kingston is also set to
tour extensively in
promotion for his new
album in the near
future.
