About Michael Buble
Buble hails from the
Canadian city of
Burnaby. His singing
talent was first
recognised by his family
when Michael was in his
early teens,
specifically when he was
13! It was Michael’s
Italian grandfather who
always believed that one
day Michael’s talent
would be recognised by
the world. It is said
that he arranged stage
time for young Michael
in nightclubs and also
made sure the boy could
get singing lessons.
Bublé has struggled to
make a breakthrough in
the world of music and
entertainment. For over
seven to eight years
since he was 18, he
would sing at all kinds
of gigs, including on
cruise ships,
conventions, even Santa
Claus gigs! Bublé had
already written songs
for films and had also
received a couple of
Genie Award nominations.
However, the big break
was yet to come, and
Michael had almost given
up by the time he was 25
years of age. He had
decided to let go of the
dream of making it as a
professional musician,
and instead, pursue a
career in journalism.
Bublé’s break came in
the most extraordinary
fashion. It was at a
business party that his
singing was heard by
Michael McSweeny, aide
to none other than
former prime minister of
Canada, Brian Mulroney.
He, in turn, procured a
copy of Bublé’s self
produced and financed
album and showed it to
the ex PM and his wife!
It so transpired that
eventually, Bublé was
invited to perform at a
wedding. But this was no
ordinary wedding. It
was, in fact, the
wedding of Mulroney’s
daughter! This is where
Michael met David
Foster, a well known
Grammy Award winning
producer. Eventually,
Foster signed Michael on
and agreed to produce
his first album.
Bublé’s eponymous debut
album was released in
2003. Not many could
resist Bublé’s smooth
voice and amazing
talent, the album was a
certified Gold in the
UK. This was followed by
two more studio albums
It’s Time and Call Me
Irresponsible. Bublé’s
career had finally taken
off and how! During this
time he has received
numerous award
nominations and has also
won several. Call Me
Irresponsible bagged
Michael a Grammy Award
for Best Traditional Pop
Vocal Album.
His latest album Crazy
Love was recently
released in October 2009
and the single Haven’t
Met You Yet debuted in
the top ten on UK
Singles Charts.
