About Jordin Sparks
Jordin hails from Phoenix, Arizona and although not trained formally, she had shown an inclination to singing and performing from a very early age. Before becoming internationally famous with American idol, sparks had already won several other talent contests such as Sprite Rising Star, The Proof Is In The Pudding Contest, and NBC/PAX America’s Most Talented Kids.

In 2007, sparks entered American Idol through the Seattle auditions, and went on to gain a huge fan following during the course of the show. Randy Jackson, one of the judges on the show, even made a casual prediction saying ‘curly hair will win this year!’ It turned out Jackson was right, and ‘curly hair’ did become the youngest winner of the hugely popular show!

Sparks’ eponymous debut album was released in November 2007. Tattoo, the first single, went straight to number 1, but it was only the first chart topping single from the album. No Air, went to #3 on the billboard charts, and became the only ARIA Chart topping track from an artist outside of Australia. Jordin has had numerous live performances, including the Super Bowl in February 2008, where she became the youngest singer ever to sing the US national anthem. She has also toured extensively with artists like Alicia Keys, whose As I Am tour Jordin opened.

In august 2008, then US president George W Bush appointed Sparks on a two year term on the President’s Council for Service and Civic Participation, along with a few other celebrities like Michael W Smith, and British singer – songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae. Soon after, in January 2009, Sparks attended and performed her new song Faith, at the Commander-In-Chief’s Inaugural Ball, held at the National Building Museum, and hosted by US President Barack Obama.

During the course of her career, Sparks has received nominations for several awards including a Grammy for No Air in 2009, and she also won several of those awards as well, such as the American Music Award for Best Adult Contemporary Artist.

The second album was released in July 2009 and is titled Battlefield, which is also the title of the first single from the album. It is a mixture of contemporary R&B and pop and debuted at number 11 in the UK. The single is produced as well as written by notable singer/songwriter/producer Ryan Tedder. Following the release of the album, Sparks started doing promotional tours and performances. She opened two Jonas Brothers shows in Mexico, and was slated to be part of Britney Spears’ tour entitled The Circus: Starring Britney Spears. Sparks is also to be part of the 2009 VH1 Divas Special in September. There is no doubt that Jordin has firmly secured a place on the international pop music scene and is all set for an even more ‘sparkling’ future.
