About Jamie T
Jamie T was born Jamie Alexander Treays on 8 January 1986. Claiming influences from Bob Dylan, Billy Bragg, The Beastie Boys and The Clash, his music draws on genres as diverse as indie, reggae and rap. He originally started out with a local punk band after saving up to buy a bass guitar, but realised that he wanted to become a solo artist.

He did just that and built up a sizeable following on MySpace. His EP Betty and The Selfish Sons was released on his own record label in 2006.

After signing with Virgin, Jamie went on to record Panic Prevention - his debut album, which was released in January 2007 and was short-listed for the Mercury Prize. Achieving gold sales, the album title was inspired by the panic attacks that he used to suffer from and was written while Jamie T was still living at home with his parents. The album became successful despite being released by bootleggers on to the internet 3 weeks prior to its official release.

The first single he released with Virgin was Sheila – which became Jo Whiley’s Record of The Week. The B side, Rawhide featured backing vocals from Lily Allen.

The album went on to spawn a whole host of successful singles, including Salvador, which was made Single of The Week by Zane Lowe, Back In The Game which was Jo Whiley’s Pet Sound and Zane Lowe’s Hottest Record in The World. If You Got The Money reached number 13 in the UK charts and Calm Down Dearest reached number 9.

Released in September 2009, Jamie T’s acclaimed second album is called Kings and Queens. The first single from the album was Sticks and Stones, which was actually an EP with 3 other tracks. It reached number 15 in the UK charts.

A further EP single was released in August 2009 – the Chaka Demus EP. Jamie performed the title track from the EP as part of Radio 1’s Live Lounge – along with a cover of If I Were A Boy by Beyonce Knowles.

He won Best Solo Artist at the 2007 Shockwave NME Awards, beating Jarvis Cocker and Thom Yorke who had also been nominated for the award. Jamie T supported The Ordinary Boys on tour in 2006 and performed on the Main Stage at Radio Ones Big Weekend in Preston in May 2007. He also appeared at festivals including Glastonbury, Benicassim, Oxegen, and Leeds the same year. 2007 went on to be even more significant for Jamie T with a US tour, an appearance on Last Call With Carson Daly, and the recording of an iTunes Session EP.

The latter part of 2009 sees Jamie T on tour around Europe with dates planned in Germany, Sweden, Denmark, France, The Netherlands and Belgium.
