About Foo Fighters

Several members have
joined and left the band
so far, but currently,
the band consists of
Dave Grohl on lead
vocals and rhythm
guitar, Nate Mendel on
bass, Chris Shiflett on
lead guitar and backing
vocals and Taylor
Hawkins on drums and
backing vocals.

Dave Grohl had
apparently been writing
his own material and
even recording some of
it. After Nirvana
disbanded in 1994, Grohl
had agreed to work with
the Melvins but this
never actually happened.
He is also said to have
been slated to work with
Tom Petty and the
Heartbreakers. This
never actually happened
either.

Instead of joining one
more band and sticking
to drumming, Grohl
recorded some of the
songs he had been
working on alone and
started doing what he
evidently loved doing,
writing songs and
singing.

The band Foo Fighters
finally debuted in 1995.
Later in the same year
they opened for Mike
Watt. Their eponymous
debut album was released
in 1995. The first
single from the album
This Is A Call was
released a little before
the album and was a big
success all over the
world; peaking at number
five on UK charts. Later
singles from the album
were also successful
overall.

The Colour And The Shape
was released the
following year. It
spawned singles like
Monkey Wrench and My
Hero. The album peaked
at number 3 on the UK
Albums Chart. In 1998,
Foo Fighters released
There Is Nothing Left To
Lose which produced
singles like Learn To
Fly. Learn To Fly became
the band’s first single
to reach the Us
Billboard Hot 100!
Recording on One By One,
the next album, was
started in 2001.
Although the band was
never too happy with
their work on this, they
spent over one year
touring behind the
album.

During this time, the
band has collaborated as
well as toured and
performed with several
acts, including Queen,
Weezer and Queen Of The
Stone Age. After heavy
touring in 2005 and
2006, the band released
their Live CD
compilation Skin And
Bones in 2006.

Pretender, the band’s
record breaking single,
was spawned by Echos,
Silence, Patience &
Grace, the album that
was released in
September 2007. The
single stayed on the US
Billboard Modern Rock
Charts for a record
breaking 18 weeks!

Foo Fighters’ Greatest
Hits compilation is
scheduled to be released
in early November 2009.
Wheels, the new song
from the compilation
album premiered on radio
in late September 2009.
The track is currently
in the top 40 on UK
Singles Charts.
