About David Guetta
Born in 1967, David
started off DJing at an
early age and was mixing
vinyls at the age of 13.
By the time he was 15,
David was organising
parties in his basement
where he would DJ.
Although he was
influenced by the hip
hop DJs in the French
Radio 7, he soon
developed his own style.
By 17 Guetta was DJing
in a well known house
club, The Broad, in
Paris, his home city. He
would then go on to play
in several of Paris’s
biggest house clubs.
Guetta was also on
France’s Radio Nova,
DJing house music for
the station.
In 1992 Guetta’s first
single, Up and Away with
vocals by Robert Owens
was released. Although
Up and Away was a minor
club hit in France, the
track is considered one
of the pioneers of
French house music. With
three chart topping
albums, Just a little
more love 2002, Guetta
Blaster 2004, and Pop
Life 2007, Guetta is now
a platinum selling
artist. Guetta is often
considered the no #1
house DJ in the
underground scene. His
uniqueness lies in the
fact that he continues
to reign as a top
underground DJ while
achieving huge
commercial global
success. The fact that
Guetta won the World
Music Award and was also
elected as the #1 house
DJ by UK’s DJ Mag in
2008, bears witness to
this.
2009 saw Guetta
producing the Black Eyed
Peas song, I gotta
feeling, part of the
album The E.N.D. His
most recent album One
Love, released in August
2009, features a remixed
version of I gotta
feeling.
Guetta’s universal
appeal is enhanced by
his world-wide shows and
events. He is known to
organise huge events
with well known artists
around the world, such
as the Mauritius event
with French Rap artist
Joey Starr, and NTM, and
several events in Ibiza.
Thursday nights with
David Guetta at the
legendary club Pacha are
now an institution in
Ibiza.
David’s new album One
Love, is crammed with US
R n B and hip hop
artists like, of course
Akon, on sexy chick,
Estelle, and Will.i.am.
With the success of ‘Now
that the love is gone’
in the US, American
artists, especially Hip
Hop artists are eager to
collaborate with Guetta
and create a new sound,
one which has come to be
referred to as
‘electro-hop’.
From a kid mixing
vinyl’s in Paris at the
age of 13 to a platinum
selling artist that has
managed to create new
musical ground, I gotta
feeling that it’ll be a
while before the love
for Guetta is gone!
