About Cobra Starship
The band was formed by
lead vocalist Gabe
Saporta after the
separation of his
previous band Midtown.
After signing with
Decaydance Records in
mid 2006, Cobra Starship
released their debut
album in October the
same year. The album
entitled While The City
Sleeps, We Rule The
Streets, made it to the
number one position on
the US Heat Charts. The
album spawned the single
Snakes on a Plane (Bring
It), which was also
featured on the movie:
Snakes On A Plane.
The second album Viva La
Cobra! Was released a
year later in October
2007. Before deciding to
name the album Viva La
Cobra, the band was
considering the title If
The World Is Ending, We
Are Throwing The Party.
It was with this album
that the band toured
extensively. Cobra
Starship headlined the
Really, Really
Ridiculously Good
Looking Tour, and played
on the Warped Tour, in
2008. In general, the
band has toured and
collaborated widely.
They have opened for
Fall Out Boy on the
Believers Never Die
(part doux) Tour.
Hot Mess is their third
studio album. The band
has collaborated with
several other artists on
the album including
Kevin Roudolf, Kara
DioGuardi, KaratE!
Mouse, S*A*M and Sluggo.
The first single from
the album Good Girls Go
Bad, was let out on
iTunes in May 2009. The
single made it to the
top ten on the US
charts. Cobra Starship
began touring for Hot
Mess in August 2009 with
the Hot Mess Across the
US Tour, with 21 stops
across North America.
The tour sees the band
collaborating with other
artists like Friday
Night Boys and DJ Skeet
Skeet.
Promotion for Hot Mess
also included Starship
Cobra playing on the
outdoor stage on Jimmy
Kimmel Live. The album
has been a big success.
Hot Mess featured on the
US Billboard 200 at
number 4. The album also
made it to the top
twenty on New Zealand
Charts.
Apart from their studio
albums, Cobra Starship
have also featured the
