About Booty Luv
The band were formed in
June 2006 and have so
far released one studio
album with another one
planned for late 2009.
Their biggest chart hit
to date is Boogie 2Nite.
The two members are
Cherise Roberts and
Nadia Shepherd, who both
featured in the original
line up of successful
hip-hop act – Big Brovaz,
who experienced
significant chart
success after their
launch in 2002. Their
most successful singles
were Favourite Things
and Nu Flo.
Cherise was already an
experienced and
established vocalist in
her own right; having
released a MOBO award
winning solo album
entitled Look Inside,
and single 2nd Best.
Booty Luv came about
during the recording of
the 2007 Big Brovaz
album Re Entry. Record
label executives
approached Cherise and
Nadia to record a new
version of club hit
Boogie 2Nite which had
originally been recorded
by singer Tweet.
The song was originally
meant to be a
promotional track for
the Hed Kandi record
label, but was well
received by DJs on the
club scene, so the
decision was made to
release the song as a
single. It reached
number 2 in the UK
charts and sold 200,000
copies, achieving silver
status. The single
re-entered the UK Dance
charts in September
2009.
The follow up single was
entitled Shine which was
a cover of the
Luther Vandross song. The
single spent 7 weeks in
the UK Top 40, peaking
at number 10. Their
third single was another
cover – this time of a
Lucy Pearl song called
Don’t Mess With My Man.
The single reached
number 11 in the
mainstream charts, and
like the 2 previous
Booty Luv singles, went
to number 1 in the dance
chart.
Booty Luv released their
first original track as
a single in late 2007.
Some Kinda Rush became
the fourth consecutive
Top 20 hit for the
group, spending a total
of 7 weeks in the
charts.
A further single was
released on a limited
European basis in 2008.
Dance Dance was the
fifth single from Booty
Luv and went into the
Netherlands Dance Chart
Top 5. The debut silver
album Boogie 2Nite was
released in September
2007. It featured the 3
singles, plus 5 original
tracks and another cover
version. The album sold
more than 70,000 copies
and reached number 11 in
the album charts where
it spent a total of 8
weeks.
Booty Luv have had chart
success not only in the
UK, but in Germany,
Ireland, The
Netherlands, Australia,
New Zealand and Poland.
The band are currently
working with producer
Fraser T. Smith on their
forthcoming album Say
It. The title track from
the album was first
performed by Booty Luv
at the Sony Ericsson
Dance Nation Festival in
April 2009. It was later
released as a single in
August 2009 and entered
the Top 40 at the
beginning of September.
